The main experience for spending a day in Labadee are lounging on the beach in complimentary beach chairs near the beautiful blue waters. If you are looking for a little more adventure, Royal Caribbean has provided lots of for-fee activities, many of which can be reserved before you even cruise. This island is one of the most breathtaking places I’ve ever been in my life. It is the remotest beach in Labadee, and it takes a minute walk to reach it on foot. Here you can sign up for activities such as the Arawak Aqua Park, waterslide, and kayaking. Furious Flyer Zipline (shore excursion, booking code ZLE8) has as requirements minimum weight 34 kg, minimum height 1,2 m (tall) and max weight 125 kg (no minimum age).
Debt, Dictatorship, and Haiti’s Crisis: It has not Always Been This Way
Please note that I am not affiliated with Royal Caribbean International and that this article is simply my review of Labadee as I visited it many times. There is a beautiful park right next to it, with flowers, plants, trees, hammocks, and wonderful views of Adrenaline Beach. Lockers are available for an additional fee at the zipline sign-up huts. Weight restrictions apply and a waiver must be filled out before the activity. I also suggest you sign up for it in the morning, because it often gets canceled in the afternoon due to the winds.
Adrenaline Beach
However, I prefer to simply wander them, seeking out good views and photo opportunities. I recommend exploring the trails when you first arrive in Labadee, before it gets too hot. From everything I’ve read, Barefoot Beach is the best beach in Labadee. However, it is restricted to Pinnacle Crown and Anchor members and suite guests.
Beaches
Since the beach is so long, you can have a completely different experience depending on which part you visit. You can whip, turn, and zoom off into the open sea and give yourself a thrill ride you won’t forget with this wave jet tour. And, if you ever need anything while you’re riding, there will be trained instructors and guides around for whatever you need. This tour is not for the weak at heart, and it is also not designed for children.
Transportation in Labadee
I was neither of those things during my most recent visit, so I can’t speak directly to the quality of this beach. Based on all the other blog posts I read, we initially started the day at Columbus Cove. However, we quickly moved to Adrenaline beach, which I much preferred. Watch others make their way down the long slide and take pictures of your friends and family as they fly out the bottom of the slide and land in the water. However, whether you are choosing to slide down, or you just want to watch other members of your group go, you will likely get wet if you’re anywhere near the splash zone.

But it doesn't hurt to have more updated info and travel advice - more about Covid-19 at the bottom of this article. Labadee is a regularly visited port of call on Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries during the Fall-Winter season. Most cruises calling at Labadee depart from Miami or Orlando, visiting one or two other ports like CocoCay, Nassau, Key West, Falmouth, or Grand Cayman. Some 8-night cruises will call at ports like San Juan, St Maarten, and Antigua.
To give you a general idea, the zipline typically costs around $100 per person. After practicing, you will be transported up to the big Zipline at the top of the hill. You can either go in a sitting or a superman position and will soar over the Haitian jungle, beach, and Caribbean ocean. The excursion starts on the practice course where you will learn how to zipline, get a safety briefing, and try out a short zipline.
There are a couple buffets and many bars in Labadee, so you will have all you food and drink nearby during your Labadee Port day. I love any excuse to get out on the water and I think Jet Skis are a great way to do it! The Labadee jet ski rentals are for one hour, which is the perfect amount of time to explore the peninsula and get some thrills.

Before it became well known as a beach destination for cruisers, Labadee was stylized as “Labadie”. Royal Caribbean purchased the island with the intent to make it a private, exclusive beach escape for a romantic getaway or fun for the entire family. On a cruise to Haiti, Labadee is a great destination for lounging and water adventures.
Labadee is one of Royal Caribbean’s private destinations, on a peninsula in Haiti. It has great white sand beaches, a couple thrilling activities, and a ton of natural beauty. The tour will end with a stop at the beach for a relaxing end to an exciting day.
He has authored and co-edited five books on Haiti, including The Breached Citadel, and served as president of the Haitian Studies Association. He has been featured in interviews by CNN International, NPR, and other major outlets. The above is to say that it indeed has not “always been this way” in Haiti, which once economically rivaled the now-successful Dominican Republic. Yet it would be too easy to blame all Haiti’s misfortunes the past half century solely on the US — Haitian elites have made their share of errors. When you get off the pier, there are a few walking trails to your left, and it provides nice views around Labadee.
The portion of the beach near the floating bar is nearby multiple bars, a buffet, basketball courts, and the mountain coaster. This portion of the beach is in a protected bay with soft sand and calm water for swimming. Nellie’s Beach offers some great beach cabanas as mentioned above and is a good spot to get some instagrammable shots of your cruise ship as well. By the way, if you do rent a cabana here it will include golf cart transportation to the ship, buffet, or many other places you might like to go. You can rent a floating mat at this beach or do some kayaking if you’re feeling more adventurous as well. Labadee’s culinary scene is centered around the concept of comforting barbeque foods, Haitian classics, and easy lunches.
There are also complimentary beach wheelchairs for guests with disabilities, and are available at the Information Center, which is located just inside the pier entrance. There are three open-air buffet-style restaurants in Labadee and the food is complimentary for all guests and crew. The food is the same in all three restaurants and is prepared onboard a cruise ship. Labadee is relatively small and easy to get around, as it’s less than 1 km long (0.5 miles) and half a kilometer wide (0.25 miles). It covers an area of 260 acres, and it takes around minutes walk to get from the entrance to the resort to its end.
A cruise that departs from Miami and makes a stop in Haiti will delight anyone with its natural beauty that leaves even the most seasoned traveler awestruck. A cruise to Haiti is perfect for individuals who fantasize about beautiful beaches that are lined with palm trees and have waters that are crystal clear. The following timetable provides valuable information and keeps track of the future cruise shiparrivals from all major cruise lines. Inorder to find out more about the cruise ship itineraries such as ports, dates, and arrival/departuretimes just follow the ship’s link. The Royal Caribbean drink package benefits you purchased for your cruise ship work at Labadee as well. If you’re planning a Western Caribbean cruise, you may be wondering what other islands are worth visiting.
There are many Haitians who work at the cruise port and some sell locally made products. You can’t use your cruise card for buying crafts and goods at these market places so have some cash on hand. For those who prefer water-based activities, Labadee offers a range of options, including kayaking and snorkeling. Visitors can rent kayaks and explore the crystal-clear waters of the Caribbean Sea or take a guided snorkeling tour and see the vibrant marine life that inhabits the area. While this is a pricey excursion (coming in around $89), it is Labadee’s “claim to fame,” and, for adrenaline lovers, is well worth the cost. If you like thrills, be sure to also check out Dragon’s Tail roller coaster (this alpine coaster is a bit cheaper at $22 for one rider with a second rider free).
The 2-person coaster cars wind along the hillside above the beach and drivers can slow down or control the speed of the cars with a brake pedal for the perfect ride. Best time ride and to avoid the lines is as soon as you reach the resort. Those who enjoy thrilling Alpine coaster rides can spend the whole day riding the Dragon’s Tail roller coaster with an all-day pass.
